There
were three friends Carrot, Egg and Coffee bean. One fine day they decided to
undergo something adventurous so they came up with a fun game in which they
were to be placed in different jars filled with hot boiling water. Mr. Carrot
dipped himself first. Facing the heat and force of the hot boiling water Mr.
Carrot got scared, water had a catastrophic impact on him as he was affected to
the extent where the damage caused was irreversible. He lost his original form
and became soft, mushy and slim just in 3 minutes. Then came Mr. Egg who was
able to survive in the ring for a longer period of time without changing its
shape or size but after a few minutes the scalding hot water started to get on
his nerve too and he began to change gradually. On facing the hot scorching
water for 10 minutes he too lost his individuality and became way too much
stiff, firm and rigid. After going through major changes both the friends
started cursing the beastly water; they held it responsible for making them
lose their identity. Mr. Carrot was sad so he was weeping like a newborn
whereas Mr. Egg was rigid so he became furious and was cussing the hot water.
Then came Mr. Coffee bean’s turn who was already scared to death after seeing
what had happened to his friends. Carrot and Egg were astonished to see that
when Coffee bean was immersed in the hot water jar he compelled the hot water
to change its color to the one of his own. The moment hot water touched the
coffee bean’s surface the water began to change. There were pangs of
aroma and color arising from the coffee bean which were defusing in the hot
water second by second and very soon the hot water had changed its appearance
completely. The color and aroma of the inch log coffee been was oozing out of
the jar and it was not late when the aroma filled the entire room too.
Here the jar is used as a figure of speech to personify the human soul and hot bubbly water is used for the hardships which keep on pouring in the jar of life. Human soul is just like a black little dot which can think anything, take any form depending upon the situations it’s exposed to. It is upon us to decide whether we want our souls to be like a carrot which turned soft, mushy and slim on facing hardships. It victimized himself and went into self-doubt. It also criticized the hot water for making him lose his true form. The second option is to become like an egg, changing our uppermost layer to be rock solid and become aggressive. We could turn a deaf ear to the world and criticize the hardships we are facing. We could be any of the two and curse the hot water for changing and molding us. But, we could be as wise as the coffee bean. He did change too after all change is the only constant in life but he did not lose his individuality on facing tough situations in life. Rather the entire water was beaming with coffee bean’s color and fragrance. He made hardships his friend and modified all of them to generate an environment that was very similar to his own true self. This allowed him to live longer and be happy from within. Of course, not to mention, just because of his positivity and keeping his emotional quotient in check, he was far happier than Mr. Carrot and Mr. Egg!
Such a great story.... And my love for coffee grows with it 😊
